For families
When you cannot be there as often as you would like
Many of us live a long way from parents or grandparents, or juggle work and caring. A Digital Friend can be a regular, friendly voice between your own visits and calls.

How we can help
Company, confidence and a watchful friend
- Regular calls or video calls with a matched Digital Friend
- Help setting up a phone or tablet, so video calls with you get easier
- Wellbeing check-ins as part of regular contact
- A response if our team is worried about them
- Updates for you, if your relative would like that
Starting the conversation
Making it their choice
Support works best when someone wants it. A few gentle suggestions:
Keep it about them
Talk about what they would like, rather than what you are worried about. It is always their decision.
Get in touch together
You can call us together, or fill in the referral form with their agreement.
Peace of mind
Every member of our team and every volunteer is Enhanced DBS checked.
Questions
Questions from families
Can I refer my mum or dad without telling them?
Please talk to them first. We only contact people who know about the referral and are happy to hear from us.
Will I be kept informed?
If your relative would like that, yes. We will agree with them what we share and how.
What if they are not confident with technology?
That is fine. Calls can be on an ordinary telephone, and we can help with devices at their pace.
What if I am worried about them right now?
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent medical help that is not an emergency, call NHS 111.
