Our approach

No jargon, no rushing

Plenty of people were never shown how to use a smartphone or tablet properly. We start from where you are, explain things in plain English and go over them as often as you like.

The aim is simple: to help you do the things you want to do, like seeing your grandchildren on a video call or sending a photo to a friend.

What we can help with

The things people ask us about most

  • Setting up a new phone or tablet
  • Video calls on WhatsApp, FaceTime or Zoom
  • Sending messages and photos
  • Email and everyday online services
  • Making text bigger and sound clearer
  • Spotting scam calls and messages
  • Getting the most from the device you already have
  • Keeping in touch with family groups

Setting up

Getting a phone or tablet ready: contacts, the apps you need and settings that are easier to see and hear.

Learning together

Step-by-step practice with the things you want to do, going over them again whenever you like.

Feeling safer online

Knowing how to spot a scam call or message, and what to do if something does not feel right.

Questions

About digital support

Do I need to buy a new device?

Not usually. We can help you with the phone or tablet you already have.

Can you help me video call my family?

Yes. Helping people see and talk to their family on video is at the heart of what we do.

I have tried before and got stuck. Is that a problem?

Not at all. We go at your pace and repeat anything as often as you need.

Is there anything to read first?

Our guide to video calls for an older relative is a good start, and so is our guide to staying safe from scams.
